Does anyone remember reading this book?

This was one of my favorites when I was little. I fondly remembered this book the other day, and how I thought that the main character was such a bamf for being “his own dog.” Crispin’s Crispian is a dog who belongs to himself. He lives in his own folksy 2-story house. He smokes a pipe and wears a bow tie. During the whole story he does whatever he wants, and has a hipster attitude to match.

The part where the story takes a turn is: “Crispin’s Crispian was a conservative. He liked everything at the right time-“
GTFO.
